Catastrophic Injuries

A catastrophic injury is the worst type of physical injury that a person can sustain and typically leaves the victim with a long-term or permanent disability. Catastrophic injuries of any kind can affect the victim and his or her family members, since these injuries will affect all aspects of life. The victim of a catastrophic injury have to undergo surgeries, re-learn basic functions, partake in various physical therapies, and may be unable to return to his or her pre-injury occupation.

Boating Accidents

Any accident that involves a boat, ship, jet ski, wave runners (or other personal watercraft), ferry or other type of watercraft is considered a boating accident. A boating accident can be caused by one boat hitting another, a boat hitting someone on a personal watercraft, or a boat striking debris or obstructions in the water.
Boating accidents can also occur when someone falls overboard. Water-skiers may be injured when they lose their balance or are struck by a passing boat after they have fallen. Other boating accidents are caused by the boat capsizing, catching on fire, or flooding. The most common boating accidents are collisions with other boats, slip and falls on the boat, sinking, and boat disappearance.

Defective Products

Products liability is an area of tort law where the manufacturers, designers, distributors, suppliers, and retailers are all held accountable for the injuries, damages, or deaths that their products cause. Any person or entity in the chain of supply of a product from its initial design, all the way to its sale, are responsible for any harm it may cause as the result of a defect. The user of a product doesn’t even have to be the person who purchased it; it could be a gift, borrowed, or the person injured could be an innocent bystander. If you or a family member was injured by a product, you may be entitled to compensation for your medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

Wrongful Death Claims

A wrongful death case is one where a death has been caused by the negligence or fault of another person. These cases involve unnecessary and preventable death. They also provide an opportunity to evaluate and implement policy changes to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

When a person in Sacramento dies as the result of the negligent acts of another, then that victim is said to have had a wrongful death. The surviving family members, or even the estate of the deceased, each have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Although each individual can file a claim, families are typically represented as a whole by a single firm or lawyer.

Medical Malpractice Claims

Medical malpractice is negligence committed by a professional health care provider, such as a doctor, nurse, dentist, technician, hospital worker or hospital, whose treatment of a patient departs from a standard of care met by those with similar training and experience, resulting in harm to a patient. Medical malpractice laws are designed to protect a patient’s right to pursue compensation if they are injured as the result of the negligence of a medical professional. Medical malpractice is a serious situation in which a patient suffers an injury or disability due to substandard care at the hands of a doctor or other healthcare provider.

Traumatic Brain Injury

The brain is one of the largest, and most complex organs in the human body. It not only controls processes like thinking, and movement, but also body functions such as digestion and breathing. When the brain's nerve fibers are torn and bleeding in and around the brain, this damage to brain tissue is known as traumatic brain injury or TBI. Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are one of the single most debilitating injuries a human being can experience. Their effects can last a lifetime and are all too often accompanied by permanent lifestyle changes and soaring medical expenses.

Spinal Cord Injuries

A sudden, traumatic blow to the spinal column can fracture or dislocate the vertebrae, damaging the spinal cord. Spinal cord damage often creates a displacement of spinal disc elements or causes serious bruising of the spinal cord tissue. Injuries to the region often cause serious nerve damage that can be difficult to detect. Many spinal cord cases result in patients suffering paralysis of one or more limbs. A spinal cord injury can lead to long-term or even permanent injury that can affect motor skills, sensation, and even breathing if not treated correctly.
